UC study: Casinos could create 34,000 jobs - Business First of Columbus:

The center conducted the study for the Ohio Jobs Growth Committee, which organized the effor t to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot. The amendmeng would ask voters to approve building casinosin Cleveland, Toledo and Columbus. Wyomissing, Pa.-based (NASDAQ: PENN) and owner Dan Gilberft would be investors inthe $1 billion According to the study, the initial investment and constructiohn phase for the casinos, expected to begin in would create 19,000 Another 16,000 permanent jobs would be created once the casinos began operating, by late 2012.
The initialk economic impact wouldbe $504 million for a Columbuzs casino; $388 million for Cincinnati; $656 million for Cleveland; and $302 million for Toledo. The Ohio Jobs Growth Committee had until the end of June to collectgthe 400,000 valid signatures needed to get the issue on the ballot; it said it files 850,000 signatures with the Ohio Secretary of Stater on June 25.
