UCF wants to cut 5 programs, 51 jobs - Kansas City Business Journal:

The move is aimee at saving $6.1 million and is in additioj to $38 million in cuts the university hasalreadh imposed. The cuts are a result of less money comingh fromthe state. Programs being cut are cardiopulmonaryu sciences, engineering technology, managemenr information systems, radiologic sciencesz and statistics andactuarial science. If approved by the the cuts will impactabout 1,100 students.
Those closr to graduation will receive assistance from the university to take the coursesz needed to complete their If the board approves the job the faculty and staff would have two semesters notice before losing their job and some would remaih employed through the spring 2011 semester to allow studentd to completetheir degrees. Studentsx will also witness a 15 percent increass in tuition beginning with the fall2009 “I wish the severity of the budget cuts did not force us to consider these actions, but they are in the best interests of the entired university. This is a very bitter pill for the UCF communityto swallow,” said UCF presidenty John C.
Hitt, in a preparer statement.
